The first day of school will not go as planned for some students.

Borden Elementary and Borden Junior-Senior High Schools were closed on Monday due to water leaks.

Superintendent Johnny Bud said he knew parents, teachers and students had plans for Monday, but so did the relief valve. The valve leaks at the weekend.

The crews were on duty over the weekend until Monday morning.

“Children always enjoy the summer holidays, but there are also many of them who enjoy going back to school and participating in school activities,” said Budd.

Budd said he had to call by 6 a.m. He wasn’t sure if the water would be running by 8am for school. The water was on at 9 a.m.

Budd said when school starts he looks forward to some kind of normalcy and strongly recommends putting on masks when the school bell rings.

School starts on Tuesday at 8 a.m. and no additional delays are expected for the time being.
