Victims injured in Palm Seashore County airplane crash, recognized as Indiana household

PALM BEACH COUNTY, – Seven people aboard a small plane that crashed near North Palm Beach County’s General Aviation Airport on Thursday have been identified as an family.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Allen, 70, Diane Allen, 70, Joseph Allen, 36, Angela Allen, 38, Logan Allen, 4, Heidi Allen, 2, and Abrams McCarthy ( 8) from Columbus, Indiana were on board the Cessna 414.

A witness said “the plane didn’t get off the ground much and was hopping over the runway when it crashed in the meadow,” according to a PBSO incident report.

“The pilot was the father, the copilot was the son, and the son was trying to comfort the father and saying it’s okay dad, it’s not your fault,” said Logan Hernandez of Palm Beach Avionics.

All seven victims were rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center along with two witnesses who rushed to the crash site to help before firefighters arrived.

A hospital spokesman said three patients are currently in good condition and two are in critical condition. The others were released.

“I’m glad everyone survived. It had to be pretty traumatic to be on the plane when it happened,” said Captain Albert Borroto of the Palm Beach County Fire Department.

Flight records show the plane was heading for Columbus Municipal Airport in Indiana.

The National Transportation Safety Board confirmed on Friday that it was investigating the cause of the crash.
