EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – The University of Southern Indiana is developing new swimming and diving exercise programs for men and women to begin in Fall 2022. The university says the new teams would attend at the NCAA Division II’s Great Lakes Valley Conference.

“Our area has a strong and passionate swimming and diving community and we are excited to introduce a new program that will allow students to represent USI in the sport they love. Our new swimming and diving teams, along with our 17 varsity programs, will regularly compete for conferences and national championships at Division II level, ”said Athletics Director Jon Mark Hall.

The GLVC currently has 10 swimming and diving teams for men and nine women, and the university expects 25 men and 25 women to be set up for the combined teams. The university plans to work with Evansville Sports Corporation and the of Evansville to bring large gatherings to the Deaconess Aquatic Center.

“The launch of new swimming and diving programs is the culmination of hard work and research from the entire campus community,” said USI President Ronald Rochon.

The university says the hiring process for the coaching and facility manager will begin this summer.
