Three suspects detained in weekend murder, sufferer recognized as lacking man
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne NBC) – Police have confirmed with Fort Wayne NBC that one of the three suspects in the Sunday murder is in custody.
FWPD Sgt. Jeremy Webb said 20-year-old Cody Clements called in on Monday.
Police named 21-year-old Matthew J. Cramer II, 20-year-old Jacob D. Carreon-Hamilton and Clements as suspects of the murder, who a Police pursuit early Sunday morning.
Officers pursued a brief chase around Lake Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard that ended quickly due to unsafe speeds.
Police were then notified of an accident in the Lake and Anthony area in which the vehicle matched the description of the pursuit.
When the officers got there, they found the vehicle behind a house that had crashed into a fence. Police searched the car and found a person inside who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three men named as suspects ran away, police say.
The victim was identified as 55-year-old Shane Nguyen, the subject of one Silver Alert was issued on Saturday.
Shane Nguyen, 55, had not been seen since Friday afternoon.
The coroner said his cause of death was a blunt violent injury to the head. His death has been classified as homicide and marks the 12th case in Allen County that year.
Webb said death was “brutal and extreme, it’s not every day that we come across cases from this butcher shop.”
Cramer and Carreon-Hamilton remain on the run, and police say they should be viewed as armed and dangerous.
