Shenandoah School Corp. in northwest Henry County said on facebook on Sunday afternoon, learning removal will be underway for at least the next two weeks, based on an instruction from the Henry County Department of Health.
The Henry County Health Department did not immediately respond to an email to determine the extent of the coronavirus spread. Attempts to call the health department were unsuccessful. The health department conducted free rapid COVID-19 tests in a drive-through clinic on Monday.
In addition to the learning disabilities, athletics director Todd Salkoski has tweeted Monday on which sporting events and training are canceled until further notice. A date for the resumption of sporting events and exercises could be announced later on Monday.
For distance learning, students receive assignments through the Canvas learning management system by 9:30 a.m., and teachers are remotely reachable from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The assignments are due by 11:59 a.m. on the next school day, unless otherwise specified by the teacher. Students were sent Instructions for picking up devices.
Shenandoah students attending the New Castle Career Center also stay virtual for two weeks.
The Shenandoah School Board has postponed the session from Monday evening to August 30th.
The school district is about 20 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
