WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – American farms appear increasingly optimistic due to strong commodity prices and improved financial conditions. The latest economic barometer from Purdue University / CME Group Ag rose 12 points to 177 in March.
The reading is its highest since October, according to Purdue’s Center for Commercial Agriculture.
The barometer, which consists of two indices, was optimistic about both future expectations and current conditions.
The Ag Economy Barometer is calculated each month from the responses of 400 US agricultural producers to a telephone survey.
