Mads Mikkelsen likes the Indiana Jones 5 script. Possibly meaning it is good?
Nobody really knows what to expect from a fifth Indiana Jones film as only half of the original four films are good anyway and this one is being tackled by James Mangold instead of Steven Spielberg (with perhaps little to no input from George Lucas). One undeniably positive sign, however, is that Mads Mikkelsen will be there – presumably as a villain because… he’s Mads Mikkelsen and he’s scary but sexy. Now we have another good sign: Mikkelsen saw the script and seems very impressed with it.
That’s according to Collider, who recently spoke to Mikkelsen and got him to share some details about Indiana Jones 5. Mikkelsen says the script was “everything I wanted it to be, it was just great,” and he prefaced that statement by saying that he had just re-watched Raiders Of The Lost Ark, which he calls “such great storytelling” designated. That seems to imply that he likes both of them similarly, although obviously he’ll be a bit biased since he’s in the next movie.
Mikkelsen also teased what he’ll be doing in Indiana Jones 5, saying that he believes “to be invited to create a character” and that “everyone wants it”. He also notes that Indiana Jones himself is often the “straight man” for the “larger than life” stuff that goes on around him. This could be a chance for us to get a real, untethered Mikkelsen in this movie. Given that he was a full-fledged supervillain at the otherwise relatively grounded Casino Royale and had some of the funniest lines in Doctor Strange as a wizard who had sold his soul to a demon, Mikkelsen could go mad against Harrison Ford for lots of fun.
