IUPUI receives world rating on sustainability efforts – WISH-TV | Indianapolis Information | Indiana climate

(Inside Business) – New global rankings, in which the efforts of colleges and universities to achieve comprehensive sustainability goals, such as those created by the United Nations, are rated IUPUI in second place in the US and 28th place worldwide . The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are based on the 2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Time Higher Education is a and information magazine dealing with issues related to higher education.

The 17 goals address a wide variety of issues that affect the economic, environmental, and social progress of communities around the world.

“I believe it is imperative that universities advance the SDGs, and I am delighted that IUPUI is taking this responsibility seriously,” said Hilary Kahn, IUPUI Deputy Vice Chancellor for International Affairs. “The 17 Goals address intricate challenges and inequalities we find across central Indiana and around the world, and we must work together and across our differences to solve these problems for a more sustainable future.”

IUPUI received high marks in several categories, including the school’s teaching on peace and justice, research into major diseases and conditions, and actions to reduce inequalities.
