Indiana legal professional normal defends the governor’s authority to order masks
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The Indiana Attorney General is vigorously defending Governor Eric Holcomb’s emergency powers in response to a restaurant lawsuit contesting his order that masks must be worn in restaurants to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Yergys State Road BBQ LLC’s trial in Bluffton filed a lawsuit in December after it was closed for violating face coverage requirements and capacity limits.
The prosecutor argued that the General Assembly “intended to give the executive the power to protect Hoosiers through an emergency statement”.
