Friday evening sobriety checkpoint in Vanderburgh County
A few weeks ago, the Indiana State Police announced they would be stepping up patrols, particularly late at night, to catch disabled drivers and keep everyone safe on the road during their “Operation Pull Over” campaign. Part of that campaign included plans for sobriety screening in locations in southern Indiana, one of which will be in Vanderburgh County this Friday night.
The exact location of the control point will not be announced in advance. It’s hard to catch drunk drivers knowing which area to avoid. The exact time of the checkpoint has also not been disclosed by the ISP, but you should probably assume it will be late at night until the early hours of the morning after the bars close.
The police also encourage drivers to call 911 whenever they see a driver they believe is impaired.
Of course, if you plan to celebrate the end of the work week on Friday evening (or any other night) with coworkers, friends or family, plan to get home before the start. whether that assigns a specific driver, or calling Uber, Lyft, or a cab.
