CarmelFest returns with 2 nights of fireworks – WISH-TV | Indianapolis Information | Indiana climate
CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – The city of Carmel announced plans for this year’s CarmelFest Thursday, which will include two nights of fireworks.
The celebrations will take place on July 4th and 5th.
According to city officials, the CarmelFest parade will be on July 5th as the July 4th holiday falls on a Sunday. The event will also have a new layout for celebrations that will take place in two locations. Music will be played in the pavilion and an expanded adult and child zone in Carter Green will give visitors more space to maintain social distance.
This year it is the first time that the festival hosts two nights of fireworks. On July 4th, fireworks will be fired in the east and west of the city. Fireworks will be fired in the city center on July 5th.
Last year, Carmel had three fireworks locations to encourage social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic. City officials decided to offer multiple fireworks locations this year after receiving positive feedback from the fireworks of 2020.
“Not only does this give firework fans more opportunities to enjoy this tradition, we believe it will encourage less traffic jams during the traditional downtown show,” said Jeff Worrell, Carmel councilor, in a press release on News 8.
The city will use Carter Green and areas around the Palladium to create a second stage for music, stalls, children’s games, and adult beverage stands.
“I am excited to see us return to the pavilion for this cherished summer celebration and develop a familiar sense of normalcy,” said Jim Brainard, Mayor of Carmel, in the press release. “I’m also very excited about the new facilities and activities at Carter Green. Both locations should be great for family-friendly fun and excellent spots to watch the fireworks. “
