A number of pictures kill an individual in Carlisle | information

Carlisle – June 10, 2021 at around 12:00 p.m., Sullivan County Dispatch received a multiple shot fired at the intersection of Lewis and Ledgerwood in Carlisle, Indiana, resulting in one person being shot dead.

Preliminary investigation by the Putnamville State Police Post detectives reveals that there was a large gathering of two separate groups at the intersection of Lewis and Ledgerwood where it was believed that an altercation would break out. This is the case when a person pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots in the direction of the opposing group, resulting in a person being hit by shots.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the upper body and immediately provided medical assistance. The victim was transported to Sullivan County Community Hospital in Sullivan and then flown to a hospital in Indianapolis, for treatment. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to injuries sustained in the exchange of fire.

The victim was uniquely identified by the Sullivan County Coroner’s Office as Mezmariah L. Wilson, age 15, of Shelburn, Indiana. Family notification was made.

This is an active and ongoing criminal investigation by the State Police. The information will be updated as the investigation progresses.

State Police believe this was an isolated incident and posed no threat to the public.

There is currently no further information about the release.
