11 meals banks in Indiana share $ 300,000 in authorities funds

(AP) – The Department of Agriculture announces that it will distribute a total of $ 300,000 to 11 banks in to provide aid and services to Hoosiers in need.

The effects of the are expected to increase food insecurity among Indiana residents by 40% this year, according to Indiana’s Hungry, the association of state food banks.

This means that every fifth Hoosier is threatened with starvation and includes more than 414,000 children.

The Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana receives the largest amount at nearly $ 100,000.

Funding was provided by Indiana law under the two-year budget.
